Scone Palace International is always one of my favourite events in the calendar, and this year definitely didn’t disappoint!
With four horses running across the week, we were set for a busy one, with Cyd stepping up for another 4*, Jake and Special tackling their first 3*L and Sully running in the 1*.
To come away with four double clears from four horses made it a pretty special week!
Cyber Shot (Cyd)
Cyd was phenomenal all week and really didn’t miss a beat.
We did our first 4* dressage test in a snaffle and he produced a much-improved test in what felt like a pretty harshly marked section. We were sitting inside the top 10 after the dressage, which was a great place to start.
He then went on to jump a brilliant double clear, adding 20 time penalties across country to finish on 57.9 and 10th place in the CCI-L 4*.
Another really exciting result at this level and he just continues to show what a special horse he is.
One To One (Jake) and L Special G (Special)
Jake and Special both stepped up for their first CCI-L 3*, and they completely exceeded my expectations.
Jake tried really hard in his dressage test and showed some real quality work, although his jockey may have had a small sat nav error!
Special also produced a lovely test, and there is still so much more to come from both of them as they gain experience at this level.
They both felt fantastic across country, jumping clear around their first 3*L tracks before coming out on springs for the final day and jumping clear again.
Special finished on 41.1 in 24th, while Jake finished on 46.5 in 33rd. Most importantly, both came away with a really positive first experience at the level and plenty to build on.
Orange Sollenburg (Sully)
Mr Consistent lived up to his name once again!
Sully produced a super dressage test before jumping another lovely double clear, with just a handful of planned time faults across country. He finished on 35.8 in 16th place, in a huge section of more than 100 combinations.
Sully will soon be looking for a new home, so if you’re looking for a mega consistent and reliable horse, please do get in touch.
4/4 double clears
Four horses, four double clears and some really exciting performances across the levels – I don’t think I could have asked for much more from the week.
It was particularly exciting to see Cyd continuing to feel so established at 4*, while Jake and Special made such a positive step up to 3*L and Sully proved just how consistent he is once again.
A huge thank you to everyone behind the scenes who makes getting four horses to an event like this possible. Scone remains one of my favourites, and I’m already looking forward to going back!
